“We accept Christoph’s decision, although of course it is with a heavy heart that we let him go,” section head Manuel Strobl was quoted as saying in a press release. “However, we really appreciate the openness. Anyone who knows Christoph knows that he is very reflective, always sees the big picture and only wants the best for the club.”

Mamoser wants “new impulses” for the team and emphasizes that stepping down is by no means easy for him: “This decision has matured in me for a long time. After much thought, I am firmly convinced that my players need a breath of fresh air.”

Despite the upcoming change, those responsible at Union Mondsee agree that the remaining three games of the autumn season should build on the great performance in Bad Schallerbach (2:1) and score the maximum number of points. “This decision shows more than clearly that the team spirit comes first in our club,” said President Harald Höfer. “Christoph shaped an era – we are very grateful to him for his tireless efforts.”

The 44-year-old has been in the coaching zone of the team from the Salzkammergut since the end of 2014 – and is the second coach this season after Samir Gradascevic at Pregarten to volunteer his position.
