According to an analysis, children infected with the Omicron corona variant are still contagious for around 3 days on average after the positive test. On the fifth day, the majority are no longer infectious, write US researchers in the journal “JAMA Pediatrics”.
The current US study also showed that almost a fifth of the children recorded were still infectious on the fifth day, and almost 4 percent even on the 10th day. The duration was independent of the child’s vaccination status. Doctors recommend:
- leaving a child at home as long as he or she feels sick,
- Fever
- or has diarrhea
- or vomits.
