Torn down and damaged Israel flags, anti-Israel graffiti in schools and shouts of Islam from students make VP Vice Mayor Martin Hajart call for a clear positioning from the Linz municipal council. “It’s unbearable how much hatred is being sown here – and apparently thriving.”
In conversations with representatives of the Jewish community, he was told of their fear, “especially of some of the Muslims living here.” This should not be tolerated, which is why Hajart is calling for the Linz municipal council to clearly distance itself from the events resulting from the escalation in the Middle East. “We need a clear signal from politicians that we will not tolerate hatred, extremism or anti-Semitism under any circumstances. Foreign conflicts must not be carried out here,” Hajart continued.
That’s why he will submit an urgent motion to the local council on November 9th.
