At the local council meeting on Monday, the local council approved the 2024 road construction program by a majority. Next year, around 14.5 million euros will be invested in the construction and maintenance of roads, cycle paths, sidewalks and bridges.
The new pedestrian and cycle path bridge over the Traun to Schleißheim will be implemented next year. The new wooden bridge that connects the Roman cycle path with the state cycle paths saves cyclists from having to climb the steep “Schleißheimer Berg”. The Traun crossing, modeled on a Roman bridge, is covered, and four small viewing platforms offer a beautiful view of the river. It makes up the largest chunk of the bridge construction budget, amounting to 5.5 million euros. “The bridge creates an important connection between the city and the surrounding communities,” says Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP).
Mobility City Councilor Stefan Ganzert (SP) emphasizes that many medium and smaller measures will also contribute to improving traffic areas. This includes planned pedestrian and cycle paths, including the closure of the gap in Vogelweiderstrasse (Römerstrasse to Billrothstrasse) and Roseggerstrasse (Ringstrasse to Maximilianstrasse). New protective routes and intersection conversions are planned for the measures to secure school routes, renovate accident hotspots and traffic calming.
A major road construction project is the development of the planned exhibition hall in the Rosenauerstrasse area.
