The president of the largest Latin American economy had already repudiated yesterday Israel’s offensive of bombings and attacks against the Gaza Stripand stated that “Israel does not have to kill millions of innocents because Hamas committed a terrorist act.”

“The problem is that it’s not a war, is a genocide that has killed almost 2,000 children who have nothing to do with this war, they are victims of this war. “I don’t know how a human being is capable of fighting a war knowing that the result of this war is the death of innocents,” he stated.

Lula condemns Israel’s attacks against Palestine

During his presentation, Lula described what is happening right now in the Middle East as “very serious.” “It’s not about arguing who is right.nor who is wrong, who fired the first shot or whose shot the second”.

Brazil holds the temporary presidency of the UN Security Councilbefore which he presented a ceasefire motion, approved by 12 countries but vetoed by the United States.

Lula also said that he planned to talk with the emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Thanito negotiate the departure of the Brazilians found in the Gaza Strip unable to leave the Palestinian territory towards Egypt.

“Until now they have not been allowed to return” complained Lula, whose government repatriated about 1,400 Brazilians who reside or were on vacation in Israel since the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas launched a series of attacks against Israel on October 7.
