Up to 21 degrees again: the weekend will be sunny and mild

As the meteorologists from Geosphere Austria predicted on the national holiday, it will rain on Friday strong, but off Saturday there is a significant improvement. In the coming week, when November already begins, temperatures of up to 21 degrees are possible again. It’s getting increasingly foehn again.

It rains under the influence of low pressure Friday widespread in the eastern half and particularly strong in the south. Further west, too, it is initially cloudy and rainy, but here the rain first subsides and the sun comes out more often. In the eastern half the rain does not subside until the afternoon and the clouds clear up. The wind from the west often blows moderately to briskly. Also strong in the Vienna Woods area and in the eastern lowlands. The early temperatures rise to six to twelve degrees, the daily maximum temperatures to nine to 16 degrees.

In the western parts of the country the day often starts sunny, and from midday onwards the sun can shine almost everywhere else. Local fog fields, which are mainly found in the south, will have dissipated by then. The wind mostly blows light to moderate from south to west. The early temperatures reach three to ten degrees, the daily maximum temperatures twelve to 17 degrees.

Particularly in the southwest, clouds increasingly gather in different layers over the course of the day. Otherwise a friendly sky prevails and the sun shines quite often. However, at least between Vorarlberg and Upper Styria, there is already some strong southern foehn, which penetrates into some valley areas in classic foehn lines with strong gusts. In the far east, brisk southeast to south winds may be noticeable. The early temperatures usually rise to between two and ten degrees, the daily maximum temperatures rise to between eleven and 21 degrees, depending on the duration of fog or sunshine and the effect of the foehn.

The southern foehn situation in the Alpine region will change on Monday is expected to intensify. Particularly in the north-eastern half of Austria, apart from a few patches of thick fog or high fog, the friendly, partly sunny weather character predominates, even if not only cirrus clouds – so-called ice clouds – but also some medium-high clouds can gradually become noticeable. From the southwest, however, increasingly dense clouds are pushing towards the main Alpine ridge and the frequency of precipitation is increasing as the day progresses. The southern foehn is penetrating some valleys with lively to strong gusts of wind, and it is also expected to become increasingly windy in the far east. The early temperatures rise to three to 13 degrees, the daily maximum temperatures usually to 13 to 21 degrees.

Up to 20 degrees on Tuesday

The exact weather development is on Tuesday is still subject to greater uncertainty. At least in the south, west and northwest there will probably be heavy cloud cover all day and it will often rain, even heavily in some areas. The snowfall limit in the heavy precipitation zones gradually drops to below 2,000 meters. Towards the east there are longer periods of clearing up and a few sunny windows before the influence of the disturbance increases there too and precipitation becomes more frequent. In the eastern half there will initially be a southerly wind with foehn effects, which will be replaced by a westerly wind towards the evening, accompanied by rapid cooling. Stormy gusts of wind are possible in open areas. The temperatures vary widely and are usually between eight and 17 degrees in the morning and between around ten and 20 degrees during the day. The high values ​​apply to the east and southeast.
