The National Port Administration (ANP) invested more than 1,000 million dollars in works to improve the infrastructure of the Port of Montevideo, with the aim of capturing more and more cargo for the country.

The head of the ANP, Juan Curbelo, He also highlighted that the measures promoted by the government encourage quality investments to optimize the maritime terminal and position it as a reference logistics center in what he described as a “thriving South America”.

Curbelo This was expressed during the annual meeting of the International Association of Women in Commerce and Maritime Transport (Wista, for its acronym in English), which brings together some 4,000 executives from the maritime, foreign trade and logistics sectors.

In this context, the leader stated: “I come to offer you the Uruguay for investments and to develop productive projects. A Uruguay port, which in these years has been transformed and has developed an infrastructure that made it possible for us to once again capture an important part of the cargo that flows through the waterway of the Paraná and Paraguay rivers.”

In that sense, he considered that it is “a country of service, safe and with legal certainty” and noted: “It is a serious country that has to open up to the world and to private investments. We hope that at some point companies will bet on our country.”

Curbelo He also highlighted the impact of women in port activity. “Today we can say, with great pride, that we have a notable presence of women in decision-making in this industry,” she stated.
