The man fired a blank pistol into the air several times while the restaurant was in operation, police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner said upon request. The accused was heavily intoxicated.
According to Schwaigerlehner, one person was also said to have been threatened. Nobody got hurt. When the police arrived, most of the guests had already left the restaurant and the employees were still present. The blank pistol was seized and a weapons ban was issued against the 41-year-old Austrian.
According to the police spokesman, the man confessed during questioning. He was taken to the St. Pölten prison.
