Uruguay was chosen the best place to telework in Latin America

NordLayerthe cybersecurity company published its Global Remote Work Index about the best countries to practice teleworking where Uruguay occupies first place compared to other countries in Latin America and number 43 in the world.

The ranking of Global Remote Work Index, that is, the global remote work index, is based on four dimensions by evaluating more than 108 countries. The first is the cyber securityis followed by economic securitythe physical and digital infrastructure and finally, the social Security. With this, they make rankings of each dimension where, later, they are averaged and the general ranking of the best evaluated countries is obtained.

They estimate cyber security as “a wide range of factors that make up a safe and secure digital environment necessary for the remote work”. This dimension is composed of infrastructure integrity, the ability to respond to digital threats and the level of legislation aimed at cybersecurity.

What refers to economic security“involves the various economic aspects of living and working in a particular country,” that is, the cost of living, access to health care, ease of communication, and opportunities for quality leisure time.

Refering to digital and physical infrastructure, it is related to “the country’s digital capabilities to provide and support stable, fast and broad Internet service and ensure convenient and safe physical infrastructure for travel.” Lastly, in the dimension of social Securityequity and access to human rights are evaluated.

What positions did Uruguay occupy?

Regarding the cybersecurity score, the Uruguay obtained a score of 0.652 just above Peru and below Georgia, occupying position number 54. Meanwhile, in relation to economic security, Uruguay It occupies position number 62 with a score of 0.670 along with Mexico and below Botswana and above Bolivia.

In terms of digital and physical infrastructure, the country obtained a score of 0.657, occupying position number 48, above Moldova and below Brazil. In the social security dimension is where it obtained the highest score, obtaining 0.780, placing it in position number 30, below Cyprus and above Poland. Meanwhile, in the general ranking it obtained a score of 0.690, obtaining position number 43, above Saudi Arabia and below Bulgaria.
