A producer and member of the Dolores Agricultural Association, Enrique Oyharzabal, He referred to numbers that will give the winter crops where the news seems to be positive, but would not be exorbitant. “The grasses this year, without fear of being wrong, are the best in the last 5 years,” stated the producer in dialogue with Valor Added.

In that sense, Oyharzabal explained that there are two factors that always determine the future of crops. “Crops were always very dependent on the two factors, prices and productivity. The price when we started was much more promising than the one we have today and it changes the equation a lot, but productivity can be the determining factor that makes us have better economic results”, he detailed.
Oyharzabal referred to the prices of winter crops, where the wheat obtained a value of 220 dollars per ton and the barley about 190 dollars per ton. For its part, what refers to the canola, The value reached 385 dollars per ton. In that sense, the producer assured that in this case there is something special where the grasses “are not as beautiful as other years” so perhaps the rapeseed crops are negative for the first time in many years.
What is expected from summer crops?
Beyond the expectations of the soy, The producer assured that beyond this crop, there are greater expectations in the summer crops in general. In that sense, they hope to have a “normal year, which we haven’t had in a long time.” In that sense, they assured that their objective is that “the crops do not lack absolutely anything, leaving with everything well done.”
Regarding production costs, Oyharzabal stated that “surprisingly year after year they are increasing, every year we have changes for the worse in costs,” which is why he highlighted the importance of focusing on productivity.
