The ART Táxi Aéreo plane crashed near the airport in the provincial capital of Rio Branco. The plane was on its way to Envira in the state of Amazonas. According to the Acre state government, a baby was among the 12 dead.
“The Acre state government expresses its solidarity with the families of the passengers, pilot and co-pilot who were on board the aircraft,” the provincial government said. “We will do everything we can to recover the bodies and prevent the flames from spreading.”
The machine crashed and exploded in a difficult-to-access forest area, the G1 news portal reported. “As there is no way to get there with a vehicle, it is quite difficult to bring the fire under control. We can only use fire extinguishers,” said a fire department spokesman.
