In the first stage of works, the government plans to develop a project over four years with a cost close to 349 million dollars, according to the bill’s explanatory statement. It is estimated that this stage will require the work of about 2,000 people.

In December of last year, the Executive power had announced that it would make a million-dollar investment as part of the sanitation strategy for some 61 towns in the interior of the Uruguay.

What is the million-dollar sanitation project in the interior of the country like?

This plan involves some 812 kilometers of sanitary networks, as well as 43 new waste liquid treatment plants and 110 pumping wells, which would benefit, a priori, almost 55,000 water users. SBI.

In the text, it is stated that the works will allow the decentralized service of the State “to go from a global sanitation coverage of 48% to 68%, which will mean adding 57,172 new connections for 190,000 inhabitants”, in the 18 departments of the interior. .
