Since the previous, 30-year-old collection point at the warehouse no longer meets current requirements, both technically and in terms of space, the Perg district waste association decided to build a new one. A plot of land for this was found along the Greinerwald Landesstraße. A collection center will be built here on an area of 5,000 m² by summer 2024, which will serve the communities of Pabneukirchen. St. Thomas am Blasestein, St. Georgen am Walde and parts of the communities of Bad Kreuzen, Dimbach and Waldhausen are to be supplied.
“With the new ASZ Pabneukirchen, we are improving the waste infrastructure in the district. In the future, many amounts of waste will no longer have to be brought to Grein, but can be conveniently disposed of in Pabneukirchen. This strengthens the region and the circular economy,” says BAV chairman Martin Gaisberger. “We looked at many possible locations before we decided on the property belonging to the NEUER family. It is conveniently located on the state road and also offers the advantage that no residents are restricted by ongoing operations,” emphasizes Pabneukirchen’s mayor Barbara Payreder .
The investment amount is 2.3 million euros. The aim of the new waste collection center is to turn the approximately 800 tonnes of waste collected in the region each year into pure recyclable materials, which, when recycled, become sought-after recycling products.
