He Ministry of National Defense (MDN) will invest 14 million dollars (12 million plus taxes) in the Fray Bentos border crossing (Río Negro) with Argentina.
The ministry awarded the tender to be able to carry out the infrastructure works in the Integrated Control Area of the Rio Negro capital, which are estimated to generate about 240 jobs.
The works planned by the MDN at the border crossing include the construction of a parking lot, as well as a duty-free store and financial, gastronomic, and hygienic premises.
The announcement took place this Monday the 30th, at a press conference organized at the head of the General San Martín International Bridge.
There, the head of the MDN, Javier Garciasigned the new contract for works together with the mayor of Río Negro, Omar Laflufthe national director of Paso de Frontera, Milton Machadoas well as authorities from the Ciemsa company.

Work on the new Fray Bentos border crossing will begin in 2024
Work on the new border crossing is projected to begin in early 2024, when, in the first 400 days, the construction of the scheduled works will be carried out. Likewise, there will be a second stage where the different offices will be modernized.
