The Brenner motorway (A13) was buried in both directions by the mudflow. A car traveling north was hit by the mudflow around 2:40 a.m. Fortunately, no one was injured, as the Tyrolean police reported on Tuesday morning. The A13 initially had to be completely closed between the border with Italy and Lake Brenner.
Still closed to the north
The southbound lane was reopened after initial cleanup work. The northbound lane remains closed for the time being. The Tyrol State Police Department said that the clean-up work was currently underway at around 6 a.m. Accordingly, local diversion measures were immediately put in place and truck traffic heading north in Italy was stopped. Car traffic heading north will be locally diverted via the B 182 (Brennerbundesstraße).
