The first signs of Christmas have already arrived: While the Volksgarten is already busy setting up for the Christmas market, there is still nothing to be seen on the main square.
Before you start putting up the huts, you have to put up the Christmas tree. This year this is a donation from the community of St. Georgen im Attergau. The more than 20 meter high fir tree will be brought to Linz on Thursday by low loader and will probably arrive at the main square around ten o’clock. The tree comes from forests owned by the mayor of St. Georgen, Friedrich Mayr-Melnhof, specifically from the “Auwald” in Straß im Attergau.
The decoration of the Christmas tree is the responsibility of Linz AG; energy-saving LED fairy lights serve as decoration. The ceremonial handover of the tree to the city of Linz is planned for November 18th. It starts at 5 p.m. and a cultural supporting program should not be missing.
