A serious traffic accident occurred early Wednesday morning on the Gusental Landesstraße: A 31-year-old woman may have lost control of her Seat while driving from Gallneukirchen towards Reichenau. In a slight right-hand bend, her car left the road to the left and hit a tree before coming to a stop on the driver’s side on a sloping embankment just a few meters above a stream.
Not an easy task
It is not known how long the injured driver had to wait in the car for help. A driver passing by noticed the damaged car in the morning and started the rescue chain. The young woman from Mühlviertel had to be rescued from the badly damaged car using hydraulic rescue equipment.
The Alberndorf and Kottingersdorf volunteer fire departments were on duty. It wasn’t an easy task for them: ladders had to be laid in the steep terrain to get to the scene of the accident. It took around 30 minutes until the injured person could be handed over to the rescue workers. After receiving initial care from the emergency doctor, she was taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz.

Gusental state road closed
The car was totaled. He was rescued with the help of the fire department and transported away by a recovery company. The Gusental Landesstraße was closed for about an hour, the police said in the afternoon.
