The MEF announced today, Wednesday, that it proposed the economist as a new advisor. Jorge Roldósreplacing the economist Aldo Lemawho will leave his position after completing the term on the date of the date.

Jorge Roldós He has a doctorate in Economics from University of Rochester (United States)and from 2001 to 2022 he held executive positions within the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Asia and the Western Hemisphere.

At the same time, he was a professor at the Institute of Economics of Montevideo and at the University of Rochester itself. Currently, he works as a teacher at the University of Montevideo (UM).

Through the statement, the MEF thanked Aldo Lema for his work in the Fiscal Advisory Council, as well as “his valuable contribution to the construction of a new fiscal institutionality”, which aims to “strengthen the transparency and credibility of the country’s public finances”, as well as “reduce the procyclical bias of fiscal policy and preserve social spending over time without compromising the country’s payment capacity or economic stability.

The measure was arranged within the framework of the fiscal institutions established in article 210 of law No. 19,889, decree 315/021 and resolution 476/021.
