When the State of Upper Austria’s Monument Prize was awarded, not only the municipality of Grein, but also the parish of Rohrbach were honored.
The monument prize, worth 7,500 euros, is awarded to the municipality of Grein for the general renovation of the historic town theater. The jury justified the awarding of the monument prize with the “comprehensive and complex general renovation of the city theater, taking into account ecological sustainability and expanded usage options”.
Awarded recognition award
The expert jury also awarded one of the two recognition prizes worth 2,700 euros to the Rohrbach parish. This honors the “challenging restoration of the interior and the high level of craftsmanship in the implementation of the monument preservation work” in the renovation of the baroque parish church.
“Upper Austria is the only federal state that honors outstanding achievements in monument preservation with state awards,” said Governor Thomas Stelzer in his ceremonial speech: “This is a visible appreciation of the state of Upper Austria for the importance of monument preservation and a special thank you to those personalities who committed to the preservation of monuments.”
A second recognition award went to the Tabakfabrik Linz Entwicklung- und Betriebsgesellschaft mbH for “the special challenge of incorporating new functions and at the same time preserving the patina of the listed building” when adapting the former power plant in the tobacco factory.
