Israel will prohibit entry of foreigners from all countries by Omicron variant

Israel, the first country to completely close its borders for the omicron variant, has so far confirmed a case of the variant, in a traveler who came from Malawi, and seven other suspicious infections.

Meanwhile, with cases identified in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Belgium, Concern about the new omicron variant of covid-19 increased in the Old Continent this Saturday, while the isolation of several countries in southern Africa is accentuated.

The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced a tightening of entry measures in his country. Anyone arriving in the UK, wherever they come from, will have to undergo a PCR test and remain in isolation until the result is obtained. In addition, the mask will once again be mandatory in stores.

On Friday, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) stated that the risk of the new variant of covid-19 spreading across Europe is “high to very high.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that this variant is “worrying” like the currently dominant delta and previously detected alpha, beta and gamma.
