The Wels ski bazaar has a long tradition. On November 10th and 11th (Wels Trade Fair, Hall 7) we will be hunting for bargains for the 36th time. Around 4,000 winter sports items, most used but still in perfect condition, are looking for suitable buyers.
Organizer Hans Doppelbauer can be twice as happy this year. In addition to the expected income that traditionally flows into youth work, the ski club veteran was given a special honor after his retirement as club chairman. State Sports Councilor Markus Achleitner recently awarded the state-certified ski instructor the title of consultant.
Acceptance of goods from November 9th
The ski bazaar starts accepting goods on Thursday (11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.). Skis, ski boots, outerwear and other winter sports items can be dropped off until Friday (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Prices are determined with consultants from the ski club. The club can deduct 20 percent from the respective purchase price as a commission. Slow-moving items are consistently rejected: “We are not a disposal event,” says the newly qualified sports consultant.
In 2020 and 2021, the ski bazaar fell victim to the pandemic. “Last year the rush was still somewhat subdued,” says Doppelbauer. The increase in prices associated with inflation should bring the hoped-for upswing to the second-hand market. “Especially for children and young people, we offer a lot of choice for little money.”
Every part is recycled. The goods that are left over are sold in bulk to a dealer from Romania. “That saves us a lot of costs,” says Doppelbauer. The proceeds from the ski bazaar go towards supporting young racers. (fam)
