The outgoing Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heberand his second in that portfolio, Guillermo Macielwill formalize their resignations this Monday – which were accepted on Saturday by the president Luis Lacalle Pou– and they will give a press conference in the afternoon.
Heber and Maciel will speak publicly at 2:30 p.m. about their departure from the Executive and about the explosive statements of the former vice chancellor Carolina Ache before the prosecutor’s office for the delivery of a passport by diplomatic bag to the drug trafficker Sebastian Marset.
Nicolas Martinelli, who serves as director general of the Ministry of the Interior, will replace Heber while the undersecretary will be Pablo Abdalawho resigned from the presidency of the INAU on October 27 to join the campaign for the October 2024 elections.
Martinelli is a leader close to President Lacalle Pou. She was his advisor before taking over as director general of the Interior and, previously, she worked alongside him when he was a senator of the Republic.
