A 19-year-old is said to have hit a pregnant woman in Germany on Sunday evening. The woman and her unborn child were fatally injured in the traffic accident in North Rhine-Westphalia. The man was apparently under the influence of alcohol, the police and public prosecutor’s office said on Monday. He hit the 31-year-old woman with his car at a zebra crossing. The woman died in the hospital and the child could not be saved either.

According to investigators, a judge at the Mönchengladbach district court ordered the 19-year-old to be remanded in custody on Monday.
