“In my opinion, younger people are currently finishing a job more quickly if everything doesn’t fit, or are looking for a new challenge after a short time because there are enough job vacancies.” Well-educated young people in particular would take more time when deciding on a job so as not to miss out on better offers.

Job seekers over 50 and the long-term unemployed, on the other hand, are often overlooked by human resources managers, the AMS knows. Steiner says: “Too specific ideas when looking for personnel reduce the company’s chance of finding what they are looking for, and even a young employee is no guarantee that they will stay with the company for a longer period of time.”

1.7 percent unemployment rate

There are currently 93 people under the age of 25 without a job in the Rohrbach district (plus 20 people compared to the previous year) and 124 people over the age of 50 (minus 17 people compared to the previous year). Overall, the unemployment rate in the Rohrbach district at the end of October was 1.7 percent; Across Upper Austria it is 3.9 percent.
