DISTRICT OF ROHRBACH. There has been full employment in the Upper Mühlviertel for years. Now the municipalities of the Rohrbach and Herzogsdorf (UU) district have joined forces with business in a unique collaboration to make working and living in the district attractive to skilled workers from other regions. Anyone who moves their place of work and life to the region can even receive a bonus of 3,000 euros.
“The district is breaking new ground in the targeted recruitment of skilled workers from other regions. Since there is effectively full employment here, the workforce potential is not sufficient. The influx of workers is therefore important,” said State Economics Councilor Markus Achleitner at the launch of the new online platform myviertel.at . There, specific job offers are linked to available apartments and building plots. On top of that, there is a moving bonus of 3,000 euros.
“We need workers”
For many years, the Rohrbach district has been one of the regions with the lowest unemployment in Austria, with an unemployment rate of around two percent. The decisive factor for this is, among other things, an astonishing number of hidden champions in a wide variety of industries. Due to demographic developments, the need for workers in the Rohrbach district will continue to increase. “For this reason, the myviertel.at initiative is intended to motivate young people, couples and families to combine home, leisure and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Austria in a unique way,” says entrepreneur Johannes Artmayr, who works with his company Strasser Steine is one of the most important employers in the region and can tell a story about the difficulty of finding skilled workers. Those interested can search for jobs and housing on the website. For example, there is a map that specifically shows available jobs and apartments, as well as various search functions. At the start of myviertel.at, 21 jobs as well as 40 apartments and building plots are already being offered. The entries are continually updated and expanded. “We are sure that we can bring people to the region who will build their lives here. We have a welcoming culture for everyone who wants to work and live here,” says Artmayr.
Business park is behind it
Manfred Lanzersdorfer, chairman of the Oberes Mühlviertel business park and mayor of St. Martin im Mühlkreis: “The business park drives economic development in our region and is responsible, among other things, for stocking operational space. Due to the current need for work and skilled workers, the medium term will continue will increase, we want to take responsibility and support the regional economy. A central campaign is the myviertel.at project. The communities and the economy are pulling together here. High-quality jobs, combined with very attractive living space, make our region unique.”
Bonus for moving
People who find a job via the myviertel.at website and move from outside to one of the communities in the Oberes Mühlviertel business park will receive compensation for moving costs of 3,000 euros from the company. The new employee has 24 months from the first day of work to move to their new home. The company must pay out the bonus no later than twelve months after moving the main residence – in stages or as a total amount. (fur)
