With a lucky stone to victory in Mallorca

After taking second place at the “Rally Clásico Isla de Mallorca” in the spring, rally driver Kris Rosenberger and his co-driver Sigi Schwarz from Steyrling can look forward to another success on the Balearic island. The duo won with a Ford Fiesta WRC superior manner to overall victory in the “550 Challenge” rally.

14 special stages with a total of 161 SP kilometers had to be completed, including the legendary road section between Cap Formentor and Porto Pollenca, which is only closed and allowed to be used for a rally race every two years. The two veterans had thoroughly gambled away when choosing tires before these crucial special stages. “There was a thunderstorm forecast and we were the only team to put on rain tires. But it stayed dry and there was no opportunity to change tires at Cap Formentor,” reports Schwarz. But the well-rehearsed duo didn’t let that deter them. “I placed a lucky stone that I happened to have in my pocket near the lighthouse and Kris burned a best time into the asphalt,” says the co-driver icon with a wink.

Rosenberger/Schwarz had already laid the foundation for success in the first two special tests, which were completed in the dark.
