The government leader who heads Joe Biden, who recently shared a leaders’ meeting with the president Luis Lacalle Pou, insisted on the idea of working together and valued the roadmap of the green hydrogen that the government launched.
Fernandez is found in Montevideo within the framework of a journey that first took him to Chili and Paraguay, with the aim of deepening economic cooperation and strengthening strategic alliances.
In this context, he highlighted that “Uruguay “It has a very interesting energy pattern, with 95% of its energy renewable,” so he stated: “We think it can be a model for many other countries in the region.”
The importance of green hydrogen
Highlighting that the country is already in the second stage of the energy transition, the US leader maintained that “the green hydrogen would create good jobs” and valued the country for having “clean energy and labor”, in addition to being “a rule of law.”
He also valued the establishment of some companies “that want to use renewable energy,” which is why he considered that the government plan is at the same time a way to attract investments.
Employment and commercial exchange
Finally, the Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment highlighted that there are almost 200 American companies that work in Uruguayan territory, giving employment to about 25,000 people.
Along these lines, he highlighted the commercial exchange between both countries. Only in 2022, Uruguay exported goods to USA for 784 million dollars and the increase in sales was 36%, according to data from Uruguay XXI.
