The police report a brutal attack in downtown Linz, near Südbahnhofmarkt: around 12:40 a.m., a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old, both from Linz, were attacked and injured by fleeing perpetrators.
Two of the perpetrators struck with iron bars, another used a bicycle chain.

A gold chain and a key were then stolen from the 24-year-old. The two injured people were taken to the Kepler University Hospital after receiving first aid. Some of the injuries were serious – one of the men had his jaw broken.
A search in the area by several patrols was negative.
Handbag robbery in the evening
A few hours earlier, at 8:20 p.m., a 61-year-old Polish citizen from Linz was also attacked by an unknown person on Muldenstrasse. Her handbag was snatched away from her, but she didn’t make it easy for the attacker and held on to her bag until the handle broke.

The attack occurred when she rang the bell at the main entrance to a friend’s apartment building. An unknown man attacked her from behind and tried to snatch her handbag from the 61-year-old. But because she fought back and held onto the bag, she was knocked to the ground. She still didn’t let go. However, the attacker didn’t let up until the handle of the handbag tore off. The unknown man was able to escape with the loot.
