A 3-year-old who was kidnapped from a childcare facility in Vienna to France in the summer is now back in Vienna. As “Vienna Today” reported, the boy is now back in the care facility in Ottakring. The boy’s parents grabbed him in August during a scuffle with an employee of the facility, injured the man and then fled to the French capital.
The parents were then wanted by an international arrest warrant. A spokesman for the state police department told “Wien today” that the investigators then received a crucial tip about the boy via social media. The family’s specific whereabouts in Paris were then determined together with the French authorities and access was prepared, it was said. The couple was arrested a short time later. Employees of the youth welfare office took him back to Vienna by train. The boy’s 42-year-old mother from Ukraine and his 29-year-old father from Morocco are now awaiting trial in a prison.
At that time, he was taken into the care of the youth welfare office after authorities received a report of danger regarding the child. “There was neglect and violence between the parents against each other,” said spokeswoman Ingrid Pöschmann to the APA at the time.
