The prosecution accuses him of Holocaust denial because he is said to have compared exit restrictions and compulsory vaccinations with the persecution of Jews on internet platforms. There is a risk of one to ten years in prison.

The defendant was repeatedly involved in serious conflicts with the police and authorities during the pandemic. In March 2022, he was suspended for about a year partly for defamation, false testimony, slander, insult and falsification of evidence. Further investigations are ongoing against the man after his wife died of cancer for which she apparently did not seek treatment. When he was arrested in January for hiding before his trial, he had her body in the trunk of his car.
