The man made nine one-off payments in the period from April 25, 2023 to August 24, 2023 almost 200,000 euros on a trading platform. When the victim’s account finally showed the supposed winnings of around 400,000 euros, the man wanted to make a larger payout.
However, because this would have been subject to a fee again, he became suspicious and filed a report.
This is what the executive advises:
- Stay suspicious! Don’t believe everything you see, hear and read on the internet.
- Don’t be tempted by promised increases in wealth and be sure to get a second opinion beforehand.
- Please contact the Financial Market Authority at www.fma.gv.at.
- Do not allow strangers to remotely access your computer online.
- In the event of damage, contact your bank immediately and then file a police report.
