This is the result of a judicial investigation into the deaths in 2018, as the PA news agency reported on Friday from a court in Preston, England.

Accordingly, the seniors died of carbon monoxide poisoning after an adjacent hotel room was treated with a mixture of chemicals against bed bugs. The 69-year-old man and 63-year-old woman, who were on vacation with their daughter and her family in August 2018, died within hours of the onset of symptoms. At the time, Egypt’s attorney general blamed intestinal bacteria for the couple’s deaths. The tour operator Thomas Cook then moved all of its guests to other accommodations.
