“Israel is now starting a war against the hospitals in Gaza City,” said Mohammad Abu Selmeyah, director of Al Shifa Hospital, which is also the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip.
According to him, there were also Israeli attacks on the Al-Buraq school, where many people had found refuge. At least 25 people were killed.
According to Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy, Hamas headquarters is reportedly located in the basement of Al Shifa Hospital. The facility could therefore lose its protected status and become a legitimate target, said Levy. Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qidra said Israel had already bombed the Al Shifa Hospital buildings five times.
