An Israeli bombardment today hit a vehicle in southern Lebanon, 45 kilometers north of the border between the two countries, in the first in-depth attack on Lebanese territory since the escalation of hostilities on October 7.
“An enemy drone targeted a truck (…) in the Zahrani region,” said the official Lebanese agency ANI, adding that no casualties were reported.
The border area between Lebanon and Israel has been the scene of frequent exchanges of fire between the Israeli army and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas last month.
But this is the first time that an Israeli bombardment has hit a target far from the border.
The journalists could not approach the place, since the Lebanese army prevented them from accessing it, the AFP news agency reported.
Tension between Hezbollah and Israeli forces has increased in the last month, but especially since the death of three girls and their grandmother in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon on October 5, in the deadliest attack against a Lebanese civilian target.
Since October 7, 90 people have died in Lebanese territory, according to an AFP count.
