The Association of Fuel Transporters (ATC) of the Uruguay suspended this Monday the loading activities of fuel at service stations in protest against the disengagement of the National Administration of Fuels, Alcohol and Portland (Ancap) with the companies it represents.
The force measure, which will last until Wednesday, consists of not loading fuel at the plants. Ancap to supply service stations with all the Uruguay.
This once again confronts the country with the risk of shortage of fuel and would affect the agricultural sector in particular, which is in the harvest season after a hard year due to the historic drought.
The Association of Fuel Transporters explained that it is carrying out the impact on supply as a rejection of a resolution by the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Unit (Ursea) which establishes the separation of private companies from Ancap.
“Given the decision of the national government, materialized in URSEA resolution No. 517/2023, to end on December 31 the linking of ANCAP with the transport companies that – with their drivers and tanker trucks – have been carrying out secondary distribution for more than 20 years, the Board of Directors of the Association of Fuel Transporters (ATC) in consultation with the transport companies resolved to carry out a stoppage of activities “, states the statement.
From the ruling party, the senator Sebastian Da Silva He made his defense in this regard on his social networks and assured that the government spoke with the parties to try to find a solution.
“The country can never run out of fuel. But LESS in the harvest and sowing season. We have spoken to the parties so that they can urgently find a solution. I don’t know what it will be, but we can NOT afford to lose a day of work in the field with a year old Niño on the way back,” he posted on his X account.
