The refrigerators negotiated with the Meat Sellers Union (UVC) to lower the prices of some cuts to promote the Uruguayan domestic market, so this week there will be discounts on meat cuts such as loin ball and also in the lamb.

From the butcher shops they assured that it is “a big sacrifice” which they carry out by offering discounts on some cuts of meat with the aim of offering good prices to consumers and to be able to be within the market.

This month, the loin ball will be offered at a price with a 40% discount, remaining at $297 per kilo, as well as the lamb roast cut, which will be offered for a price of $189 per kilo. “This offer of loin ball and lamb roast demonstrates the great effort that butchers make for people. “The customer is the most important thing for us,” he explained. Rafael Rodriguezvice president of the UVC.

In that sense, Rodríguez assured that the objective of making these agreements is “to make the family economy work with dishes that are prepared with varieties of meat.” This initiative began in 2020 when the Uruguay was going through a difficult time due to the pandemic where it was considered launching promotions so that more families could access it.

Rodríguez explained that the country exports the best meat it produces, but not 100% of it. “We do not export roast meat, although it could be boned and sent to China at a much higher value, but they try to leave it here because Uruguayans are consumers,” he explained and assured that Uruguayans pay much less for meat.

“We eat the best meat in the world, which is Uruguayan, and we pay much less for it. When you export you pay much more. It is a mistake when people believe that we pay foreign prices. In Europe, in Spain and France A round rib, per kilo, costs 30 euros, and here it costs much less,” he explained.
