A study of one million people in nine European countries looked at the impact of CT scans before the age of 22. The result: Around one to two out of 10,000 children could develop leukemia in the next twelve years based on a CT scan. This study was published in the journal “Nature Medicine”.
The researchers emphasize that their results could help sharpen medical guidelines. They are further evidence of keeping the radiation dose in children as low as possible.
