The mayoral elections are expected to take place in Pichl in January. Now the local FP has also declared: It will not put forward its own candidate and will instead support VP Vice Mayor Gerhard Seemann. This was announced by parliamentary group leaders Philipp Oberndorfer (VP) and Chlodwig Mölzer (FP) in a press release yesterday.
The situation in the community is so “catastrophic” and the need for action is so great that his group is foregoing its own candidate, says Mölzer. Even after the election, we will continue to constructively shape the future of the community, says the party chairman. VP and FP together hold 15 of 25 local council seats in Pichl.

There is political turmoil in Pichl after the resignation of SP mayor Franz Scheiböck in September. Scheiböck had been involved in a dispute with the head of Pichl’s office for months and had even reported her. Among other things, he accused her of colluding with FP and VP against him – she always denied this and has since resigned. As it later became known, the municipality had also fallen behind on several payments. Seemann, who is now in charge of official business, wants to investigate the matter.
In view of the FPÖ’s declaration of support for Seemann, Scheiböck sees his suspicions confirmed: “There is apparently a large coalition that is against me.” The FP is free to support the VP candidate: “In the end, the citizens have to decide,” says Scheiböck, who is running for election again.
