“The St. Leonhard Music Association did an excellent job of organizing the district music festival with marching competitions this year and was now also responsible for organizing the concert competitions,” says brass music association district chairman Franz Jungwirth.
A total of 21 wind orchestras, including four youth orchestras and a guest band, took part in the concert evaluation by a three-member expert jury chaired by state music director Günther Reisegger. “Our goal is to motivate the orchestras and support them in the best possible way. A lot of praise and pointing out musical strengths should not be neglected. One or two small things that can be improved are also addressed and usually very gratefully accepted.” says jury member Stefan Unterberger.
At the end of the evaluation, the participating bands had 14 gold and seven silver medals. District bandmaster Marlies Barth-Miesenberger was also pleased with the performance of the four participating youth orchestras: “They were able to get valuable tips for further development.” The best results with 95.4 points each were achieved by the Grünbach music association (performance level B) under the musical direction of Pepi Hoffelner and the Lasberg traditional music band (performance level C) with the deputy district bandmaster Andreas Cerenko at the conductor’s podium.
