Dachsberg high school students were given an insight into social facilities

The young people dedicated time to nursing home residents.

In cooperation with the Eferding and Grieskirchen retirement homes, the Hartheim Institute, the kindergarten and the Johann Eisterer School in Peuerbach, 75 7th grade students were given the opportunity to spend a morning in the facilities.

The young people got to know different social professions. The goals were also to raise awareness for people with special needs, to see people’s differences as natural and enriching, and to get to know their own limitations and strengths better.

The boys and girls’ areas of responsibility were varied: supervising skill stations, playing board games, decorating cookies, providing support, doing crafts, playing music or simply listening and being there. The students also shared many heartwarming moments with the seniors and those with special needs. The offer will also be available next school year.
