Criticism of Uruguay’s abstention at the UN

Regarding the Uruguayan abstention in the UN on the resolution calling for an “immediate and lasting humanitarian truce,” he said: “We don’t really understand why Uruguay was not part; to save lives, children.”

Shortly after the resolution was known, the secretary of the Presidency, Alvaro Delgadohad dismissed the criticism by clarifying that the government will always “promote peace.”
