Präauer receives the prize for the novel “Cooking in the Wrong Century,” which was published by Wallstein Verlag, as the Senate press office announced on Saturday. “Teresa Präauer combines humor, analysis and existential unrest in her novel in a unique way,” the jury said in its statement.

According to information, Präauer was born in Linz in 1979. She studied German and fine arts. Several of her works have been published by Wallstein Publishing, including her debut novel “For the Ruler from Overseas”. The book “Cooking in the Wrong Century” was on the longlist for the German Book Prize 2023.
