What the weather will be like: first mild, then sub-zero temperatures

After a mild and unstable start, according to the forecast from the meteorologists at Geosphere Austria, it will be cold from Thursday with low temperatures of up to minus ten degrees. Light snowfall is also possible in the north, it said in a broadcast on Sunday.

At the Monday There will be patches of clouds in the north and east in the morning and short showers are possible in the mountains. Here the sunny periods during the day become more frequent and longer, especially in the lowlands. Further to the west and south the sun shines more often, but in places there is some fog in the inner Alps and in the south. In the afternoon, however, a screen of high and medium-high cloud fields will gradually move in from the southwest. The wind blows moderately to briskly in the north and east, sometimes strong from the west in exposed locations, otherwise it is rather light. Depending on the wind, the early temperatures are between minus two and plus ten degrees, and the daily maximum temperatures are between eight and 14 degrees.

Along the north side of the Alps and in the north predominate Tuesday mostly the clouds and here it rains or snows at times, a little more often in the traffic jams. In the east and south the sun shines at least occasionally and it stays largely dry here. Only a few drops of rain are possible in the eastern lowlands and the southeast. The wind will be light to moderate from west to north. The early temperatures reach minus two to plus six degrees, the daily maximum temperatures five to eleven degrees.

Wednesday: The south offers dry and fairly sunny weather. In the rest of Austria there will initially be a lot of clouds with a few snow and rain showers, especially along the northern side of the Alps and in the north. In the afternoon the clouds clear up and the sun appears more and more often. It stays cloudy for the longest time in Nordstau, and here the showers only slowly subside. The snowfall limit fluctuates between low altitudes in the north and east and 800 meters above sea level in the west. The wind is weak to moderate, brisk to strong at higher altitudes and on the eastern edge of the Alps, from northwest to northeast. The minimum temperatures are minus four to plus four degrees, the daily maximum temperatures are minus one to plus seven degrees.

At the Thursday The sun shines quite often for the time being, only locally there are a few patches of fog, especially in the inner Alps. From later in the morning, some cloud fields will be noticeable, particularly in the north and east. Light rain or snowfall should be taken into account, especially in the far north, with the snowfall limit rising to 600 to 1,000 meters above sea level. The wind blows weak to moderate, brisk to strong in the east, from southwest to northwest. The early temperatures are between minus ten and plus one degrees, the afternoon temperatures between plus one and plus seven degrees.

In the west and south it is on Friday Quite sunny outside the fog fields, cloud fields only arrive here towards the evening. In the rest of Austria the day often starts with sunshine, only in the far north are there many clouds early in the morning. The clouds gradually increase there and as the afternoon progresses, rain sets in more and more frequently in the northeast, the snowfall limit fluctuates between 1,000 and 1,300 meters above sea level. The wind is weak to moderate in the south and west, moderate to strong elsewhere, and sometimes even stormy in the Danube Valley from the southwest to northwest. In the morning the temperatures are between minus six and plus six degrees, depending on the wind, and in the afternoon between four and eleven degrees.
