Work on the brass music CD “Perg district sounds”, which brings together recordings of all brass bands from the Perg district, took a little over three years. If you take the Rolling Stones as a comparison, that’s not really much. But it was significantly longer than originally planned. The actual idea was not to let the Perg music bands, which were deprived of their performances, fall into oblivion during the Corona pandemic and to be able to at least offer the loyal listeners a CD instead of a club concert.

Requires several attempts

But that’s exactly what turned out to be much more complicated than expected, remembers brass band association district chairman Georg Fichtinger in an interview with OÖN: “The recordings should have taken place in the studio within three weeks. Everything was planned and timed. Then the next lockdown took the whole thing away from us The schedule was made obsolete and we were essentially sent back to the start.” So it took a few attempts until all contributions could be recorded and finished.

The CD also proved to be a financial challenge for the district association, says Fichtinger: “We sponsored at a time when no company was really doing well economically. That’s why we are even more grateful that our partners supported us in this project gave us a great helping hand.” Thanks to these sponsors, almost all of them from the Perg district and the surrounding area, the production costs of around 30,000 euros were ultimately met.

CD presentation with concert

They have also come up with something special for the CD presentation this Saturday, November 25th (7 p.m.), in the “Die Turnhalle” event center in Perg. The instruments will be used by a “project orchestra” put together especially for this evening, which consists primarily of the bandmasters and their deputies. The individual pieces are then conducted by the bandmasters who recorded them on the CD with their regular music club. The program will be led by honorary district chairman and consultant Erhard Meindl, who has accompanied the CD project from the very beginning. Admission is free.

The CD “Perg district sounds” will be sold on Saturday for 15 euros and will then be available from participating music clubs.
