He Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) reported that fines began to be applied for speeding in the 112 radars installed as of the 20th of this month after the testing stage during the month of October.
The 112 radars on national routes are part of the Road Safety Program carried out by the MTOP, which has the objective of installing 71 kilometers of new roads, 14 parking lots for trucks (there will be 28 by the end of the year), 50% more illuminated routes by the end of the period, more than 100 roundabouts and ten interchanges .
It was during the month of October that the testing process and where the radars captured 34,345 speeding violations. Although they were installed in the month of August, the remaining months corresponded to testing periods since no fines had been applied to date.

What will the penalties for speeding be like and how much do the fines cost?
The Minister of Transport, José Luis Faleroexplained that drivers who exceed the speed allowed on highway routes Uruguay will first receive a “notification within the first 30 days” of implementation the fixed radar system.
