Stefanie and Andreas Hager are grateful that their little son Alexander was able to see the light of day in the hospital. The two paramedics Mathias Öller from St. Georgen and Juliane Sommerauer from Tarsdorf, who recently invited the young family to personally thank them again for their help, played a key role in this.
The night of the birth, July 12, 2023, was remembered by everyone involved: It was a violent storm night, but baby Alexander chose exactly that to be born. So the paramedics from the Riedersbach local area set off despite the storm, but had to stop their journey: hurricane-like squalls made it impossible to continue the journey with the 2.65 meter high ambulance. But they didn’t give up, continued their journey to the site as soon as possible and were stopped again: falling trees blocked the way. So the fire department was called to help. At the same time, the emergency doctor from Burghausen was alerted, who also made his way to the Hager family. Meanwhile, the intervals between contractions became shorter and shorter.
Despite all resistance, help arrived at the Hager home and wanted to take the expectant mother to the Braunau hospital. But here too the storm threw a spanner in the works. There were trees on the road that made it impossible to continue driving. The ambulance promptly turned around and took the mother to Altötting in Bavaria, where little Alexander was born just five minutes after arrival.
