The ZIMT was created in the city of Braunau to promote appreciative, active and constructive cooperation between the diverse cultures in and around the district capital. Since opening in 2019 on Kaserngasse (former Poly), ZIMT has become a meeting place for all generations and social classes. It is a meeting place where exchange and development are the focus. International cooking evenings, readings about escape stories, comedy, workshops and lectures, art workshops for children and young people, the repair café and language and communication offers in German, English, Arabic, Farsi or Dari make up the colorful program at ZIMT.
“The ZIMT is a place where people can develop their ideas and positive resources and make them accessible to the general public”says Daniela Auer, one of the co-project leaders. It offers the entire population a space to implement charitable projects. Through constructive, respectful cooperation and appreciative mutual exchange, the values and customs of Austrian culture are conveyed and at the same time insights into other cultures are opened up.

The patron is the local councilor and integration officer for the city of Braunau, Lizeth Ausshuber-Camposeco (Greens). Together with some of the many people who make ZIMT what it is today, she traveled to Linz to bring the state’s integration award to Braunau. Integration State Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer awarded the people of Braunau first place in the category “Respect and values”. A special honor, because a jury selected ZIMT in Braunau as the winner from more than 80 submitted projects. Additional treat: prize money of 3,000 euros.
