In turn, they appreciated that “this genetic contribution supports the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic China to achieve the levels of self-sufficiency and food security in terms of beef projected in its Five-Year Plan”.

The objective is also to strengthen the Chinese consumer’s preference for high-quality meats. “Uruguay Beef-Green Quality”, which had been launched this month at the 14th edition of the International Meat Congress, in Shanghai, at the CIIE Fair.

The advantages for agriculture after the agreement with China

Within the framework of the 24 treaties signed with China, he agro was one of the great beneficiaries of the update of several protocols for the export of agricultural products, such as meats cattle, sheep and goats, as well as the signing of a five-year plan for agricultural cooperation.

The Five-Year Strategic Plan for Agricultural Cooperation between Uruguay and China defines cooperation initiatives between the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA), as part of the 2012 memorandum of understanding.

It is the second of its kind between both countries and focuses on strengthening collaboration in agriculture, agribusiness and fishing. In addition, it aims to exchange agricultural policies; efficient use of water; animal husbandry; plant health; capacity development; agricultural trade; scientific and technological research; dairying, fishing and aquaculture are the main ones.
