The energy markets are slowly calming down, Wels Strom is now passing on the lower purchase prices to its customers: from January 1, 2024, the kilowatt hour will cost 20.78 cents net instead of 22.97 cents. This corresponds to a price reduction of around 9.5 percent. Gross, a kilowatt hour in the main tariff then costs 24.94 cents.
The price reduction applies to customers with standard products in Wels and an annual consumption of up to 100,000 kilowatt hours. Households with an annual consumption of 2,900 kilowatt hours will benefit the most. This also includes the electricity cost brake, which expires on June 30, 2024 and caps electricity costs at 10 cents per kWh.
As with the price reduction in July, Wels Strom customers don’t have to do anything – the cheaper prices will be charged automatically from January 1, 2024, explains Wels-Strom managing director Stefan Grassmann. He sees the step as a fulfilled promise: “Our customer promise is clear: As soon as the market allows price reductions, we pass on the lower purchase prices to our customers.”
“Voltino”, the online brand from Wels Strom, which operates throughout Austria, is not affected by the price reduction.
