Perg: Farewell gala in the style of a ski champion

This year’s WKO business reception in the Perg district had to be postponed at short notice on Wednesday evening. Because of the metal workers’ strike, a large reception at the Engel company in Schwertberg was not held. To “avoid escalation,” as participants were informed. The last business reception in the era of WKO district chairman Wolfgang Wimmer took place on familiar territory in the Perg Chamber of Commerce. Wimmer, who resigned from the chairmanship of the economic association in the district in October, will also step down from the top position of the Chamber of Commerce in December. Evelyne Grabmann, head of the Arbing-based window and door specialist “Bauservice Grabmann”, has already been appointed as his successor.

Once again on Wednesday evening, Wolfgang “WiWo” Wimmer was the center of attention – flanked by, among others, State Councilor for Economic Affairs Markus Achleitner as well as Christoph Leitl and Viktor Sigl. The fact that Wimmer completed the parallel turn with skiing in his “last race” was not only due to ex-ski professional Thomas Sykora, who in his presentation “A slalom turn for your success” drew many connections between business and top-class sport and was amazed at the numerous guests : “That’s more visitors than at a World Cup downhill in Canada.”

The insurance entrepreneur Wimmer is also an enthusiastic skier himself and was once often referred to as “Hansi Hinterseer von Perg” because of his sunny disposition and distant visual resemblance. So it’s no wonder that fellow traveler and WKO district committee member Hubert Schlager, together with Sykora, commented on the eulogy for Wimmer’s chairmanship in the style of a ski race: from the tough Danube bridge slide to the Corona humps to the labor market compression.

State Councilor Achleitner also described himself as a real fan of Wolfgang Wimmer: “You have brought an enthusiasm to the employers that is exemplary.” In addition, like no other, Wimmer embodies the self-confidence that signals from afar: “Where we are, we are ahead.” The business location of Perg with its leading companies Engel, Habau and Greisinger as well as the many successful medium-sized companies also stands for this in many respects.
